Biographies

Tawia Baidoe Ansah

Acting Dean & Professor of Law, Florida International University College of Law

Professor Ansah teaches Conflict of Laws, Contracts, International Business Transactions, Professional Responsibility, and Jurisprudence/Legal Theory. He joined the New England Law Boston faculty in 2002 and received tenure there in 2007. Before joining the New England faculty, he was a visiting assistant professor at Syracuse University College of Law. Previously, he was a legal consultant with JPMorgan Chase; a contract attorney for Cravath, Swaine & Moore; and an assistant prosecutor for the Ministry of the Attorney General in Toronto, Canada. His international legal experience includes service with the Council of Europe (Kosovo in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia), the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (Bosnia-Herzegovina), the United Nations Human Rights Field Operation (Kigali, Rwanda), and the United Nations Centre for Human Rights (Geneva). Professor Ansah was a Visiting Professor of Law at Case Western Reserve School of Law in the Fall of 2010.

Kalyani Robbins

Associate Professor of Law, Faculty Symposium Organizer, Florida International University College of Law

Professor Kalyani Robbins completed her undergraduate work at the University of California at Berkeley before going on to receive her J.D. from Stanford Law School (where she was an Articles Editor for the Stanford Law Review), and her LL.M. in Environmental and Natural Resources Law, cum laude, from Lewis & Clark Law School (the top program in the field). She has been admitted to the California and New York bars. Prior to joining the FIU Law faculty with tenure in 2014, Professor Robbins spent six years on the law faculty at the University of Akron. In her years before academia, she served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and was Legal Director for Sequoia ForestKeeper, an environmental nonprofit. She also clerked for The Honorable Norman H. Stahl of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and The Honorable Faith S. Hochberg of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
