Visiting Scholar

Ana Cristina Gallego Hernández is a PhD Associate Professor of Public International Law and International Relations at the University of Seville. Professor Gallego was awarded her PhD in Law in 2017 at the Universidad de Sevilla (cum laude). Also obtained her LLB and her Master’s degree in Public Law at the same university in 2013 and 2014 respectively. She teaches for the Master degree in Human Rights, Democracy and Globalization at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya as well.

She has satisfactorily passed related courses at the Centre for Studies and Research-The Hague Academy of International Law, both in 2019 and 2020. As a Member of the Research Group Política y Derecho Internacional, her main line of research includes: international treaties, health security, international peace and security, and extraterritoriality.

She has participated in several national and international projects, and is the author of over a dozen publications. After the declaration of the Ebola by Security Council as a threat to international peace and security, in 2014, she has carried out dozens of studies related to this topic from the perspective of Human Rights, studying epidemics and pandemics, articulating peaceful mechanisms of solution for said crisis, etc. She submitted her PhD thesis on `Health Security and International Security´(in Spanish and English), which was awarded excellent cum laude.
